As Liam walked Renee across the bridge leading onto the gazebo, he glanced around at his surroundings. Not that he knew much about romance, but as far as he was concerned, the backdrop seemed perfect; the waterfall tumbling down over the steep edge of the cliff and falling like a shower into the lake, while the moon was full above, and the stars twinkled brightly in the sky.

“The timing is way off for us. Isn’t it?” Liam asked.

“Us?” she observed, grinning.

Renee was looking extremely pleased by his words, so Liam built up the courage to continue. “Can I kiss you again?”

Her smile went wide as she nodded her head up and down.

Seconds later, he was taking her into his arms. Her skin was soft and silky and the scent from her perfume brought to mind apples and cinnamon, and all the things he loved about Christmas.

He kissed her once, and then again. And by the time the third kiss was done there was hunger as well as desire when his mouth moved from her lips to her cheek and throat.

It was time for them to stop, but remaining quiet, they stood staring at the stars for nearly another half hour before he kissed her one more time.

When he finally walked her up to the suite, his thoughts were muddled the rest of the night. It didn’t matter if they were living on opposite sides of the country, he needed to find a way to keep Renee in his life.
